Mike and his buddy Steve joined us for a hunt opening week of 2013 and spend five days in a spike camp with their guide Casey. After hearing both cows chirping and elk bugling from camp both Mike and Steve were were able to shoot bulls and head back to the lodge.

Week One 2013
Here are all the successful rifle hunters with Centennial Outfitters from 2013’s week one hunt.
Drop Camp 2013
Gary was able to shoot this 6×6 bull out hunting on his own while staying in of our drop camps.
2014 Opening Week Buck
Craig shot this 25″ buck opening week of our 2013 hunting season. He was thrilled to shoot this 7×8 non-typical buck on day four of his hunt and went on to shoot an elk later in the week!
First Ride!
This little girl is Megan and she is 9 years old. When we first saddled up this morning, she was so scared she was sobbing. I told her that she would be fine and that she could ride right next to me and I would lead her horse for her. She was still scared but she wiped her tears and said “OK”. (Consequently, since she was in the front with me, she got to see some wildlife that no one else did.) After a few ups and downs on steep hills, I pulled her aside and told her that I was just in the way by leading her horse and that she didn’t need me. So she hesitantly took control, and within a couple hours, she was putting that horse wherever she wanted to go! When we finished our ride and I took the parting shots, I handed her my hat for a photo because she had shown all the other gals what it really meant to “Cowboy Up”.
Inside a bears den!
These two lucky ladies were the winners of a half day ride auction won during an event with The Center for Earth Conservancy. As you can see in the picture Shambow Creek was flowing and everyone enjoyed a drink of the cold water. During the trip Casey came across an empty bears den and everyone took a turn crawling inside! Luckily the bear didn’t return while they were inside his home and everyone made it back to the lodge safe and sound.
Fun Fishing
After deciding to try taking a shortcut to Blair Lake on a day ride up to Hell Roaring Creek the boys found themselves bushwhacking their way into the lake. Luckily the only causality was Adam getting hit with a tree branch. All their hard work was well worth it though as they caught twelve fish between the four of them! At the end of their trip a huge bull moose ran out into the lake for a swim. Maybe he wanted to check out the fishing as well!
Changing Camps
Today was day three of a five day pack trip with a fun group of people from all over! We had guests from Mexico City, New York, as well as a few from our own Montana. Today was the day we packed up and headed out of O’Dell camp and headed over to Shambow camp. During the transfer we rode through skyline and made it all the way to top of Baldy Mountain. We made it to camp just in time though, as we got quite the lightening show as we dropped down into Shambow.
Welcome to the Lodge
We have had lots of requests to see where our hunts and horseback rides are based from! This old beauty is the lodge that Mel Montgomery grew up in Lakeview and later had brought a half mile up the hill where she now sits in all her glory. We have been blessed with an amazing view of the Red Rock Lakes . There isn’t much we enjoy more than sitting on the porch together and relaxing and as you can see Guss the dog really enjoys the view as well.
Frosty the Centennial Snowman
Once we get enough snow there isn’t any way to stop the kids from building snowmen! This big guy was at least ten feet tall and took just over two hours to build. The snow was so dry we had to keep making trips into the lodge to get water to help the snow stick together. After all the hard work everyone enjoyed hot chocolate next to the fireplace.
